Occlusals Removed (ROCs)

Specialty Appliances was the original designer of crowns with the occlusal removed. We are currently the only company that uses crown material on this type of anchorage. The ROC Crowns are pre-trimmed which saves the clinician’s time when fitting the crowns directly. The ROC crowns are utilized daily in the fabrication of appliances at Specialty. We customize and contour the MiniSkirt crowns to your models for the optimal fit.

Debonding Holes

Debonding holes allow the clinician to remove the Herbst appliance using debonding pliers. Doctors request debonding holes for added strength during treatment and the ease of removal after treatment. The holes are two millimeters in diameter and are placed on the mesio-buccal cusp of the molars and the central fossa of the bicuspids. Custom placement of debonding holes can be requested by contacting our technical support department.

Vent Holes

Vent holes are placed in crowns to allow the cement to escape occlusally. The holes are one millimeter in diameter and four are generally placed on the occlusal surface of the molars and two on the occlusal surface of the bicuspids. Custom placement of vent holes can be requested by contacting our technical support department.

Vertical Slits

Vertical slits are generally placed on the mesial-buccal line angle of the crowns gingivally. This allows the clinician a purchase point to place the pliers when removing the appliance. Custom placement of vertical slits can be requested by contacting our technical support department.
