Sending Impressions

If you prefer to send impressions, we can pour models for you in the lab. If you send impressions, we recommend that you use Algimax or Kromopan 100 hour impression material. This material does not require special handling when sending impressions to the lab. Take the impressions, disinfect them and place them in a plastic bag. The 100 hour alginates do not require that impressions be wrapped in wet papers towels or that additional water be added to the bag. Write the patient's and doctor's name on the bag using a permanent marker. Other items such as wax bites, bands and crowns should be disinfected and placed in a separate plastic bag that also includes the patient's name and doctor's name. Do not include the Rx sheet in the bag with the impressions or other disinfected items. Fold the Rx sheet and place it in the shipping box.

Standard alginates can also be sent but do require more specific handling. Take the impressions and disinfect them. Wrap the impressions in wet paper towels and place them in a sealable plastic bag. Add two tablespoons of water to each plastic bag containing an impression. Write the patient's and doctor's name on the bag using a permanent marker. Place the bag in a separate sealable bag before sending to the laboratory. This double bagging process ensures that the alginate maintains its maximum accuracy. Other items such as wax bites, bands and crowns should be disinfected and placed in a separate plastic bag that also includes the patient's name and doctor's name. Do not include the Rx sheet in the bag with the impressions or other disinfected items. Fold the Rx sheet and place it in the shipping box.

Sending Models

If you send models to the lab, please disinfect the models first. Using a permanent marker, write the patient's name and the doctor's name on the bottom of each model. Wrap each model in bubble wrap to prevent any shipping damage. Place each model in the center of the bubble wrap. Fold corners over the occlusal surfaces and then roll the model in the bubble wrap. Make sure all surfaces of the model are protected by two layers of bubble wrap. Secure bubble wrap around each model with a rubber band. Please do not wrap models together. Always use a separate sheet of bubble wrap for each model. Other items such as wax bites, bands and crowns should be disinfected and placed in a separate plastic bag that also includes the patient's name and doctor's name. Fold the Rx sheet and place in the shipping box.
