Expansion-Lower

Lower Fixed Expander

A 12 mm expansion screw is soldered to bands on the first molars. The screw has a .059” support wire giving added support and durability for lower arch development. Rests are generally soldered from the expansion screw to the first bicuspids or second deciduous molars. Lingual sweep springs can be added to the appliance as an option.

J.I.Williams Expander

The J.I. Williams expander uses tubing on the lingual surface of the lower posterior teeth. A .016 round Ni-Ti wire is placed in the tubing to keep the lower anterior teeth rounded and labially inclined. A 8 mm expansion screw is soldered to tubing at the first bicuspid area. Rests are generally soldered from the tubing to the second bicuspids or second deciduous molars.

Dischinger Crown Expander

The Dischinger Crowned Expander uses crowns on the first molars for anchorage. The crowns supply superior anchorage and slightly open the bite to aid in expansion. The 12 millimeter Mini Palex is our standard activation screw. The crowns can be placed on the deciduous second molars if the first molars are not sufficiently erupted.
