Do I have to send a STL file from a scanner or can I send a model?
You can send either a STL file or a model. We will digitize your model on our scanners for you.
Is there an additional charge if I send an impression?
Yes, we will charge to pour up the model. However, the scanning of the model will be done at no charge.
Do I have to remove the wires prior to the scan or impression?
Yes, please always remove the wires prior to the scan or impression. This will allow us to remove the brackets digitally.
Can I get a printed model with only one invisible retainer?
Yes, however, you will have to pay for the printed model and bracket carving charges. The GUARDIAN™ program was designed for multiple retainers from one printed model.
Can I have Specialty deliver the appliances directly to the patient?
Yes, upon your instruction we will ship the appliances to any address you request. (shipping charges will apply)
What do I need to do if I need resets done on the final, once I take the brackets off?
We will reset the teeth for you on the digital set-up.
What if I cannot scan or get a good impression of the second molars?
We will extend the retainers as distally as the impression or scan to give us accurate information.
What do I do if the patient has swollen tissue at the time the scan is taken?
Take the initial scan and we will send you an immediate retainer. Then once the tissue has resorbed rescan the patient for the final GUARDIAN™ invisible retainer. We will only charge $8.50 to reprint the models per arch.
Can I use this system on an open bite patient?
Yes, we have a retainer system called the AOB appliance that incorporates a fixed retainer on the upper and lower arches with a specially designed undercut on the pads. The GUARDIAN™ invisible retainer then locks onto the bonded retainer to maintain the corrected open bite.
